WWII-Inspired Gear: A Guide to the Collection

Start with the piece that interests you: a D-Day cricket clicker, a brown aviator hat or an olive canvas bag. This guide covers what each one includes, how it fits and where to read more about the history behind the design.

The D-Day cricket clicker

Our D-Day cricket clicker has a metal body, a thumb-operated spring mechanism and an attached chain. It suits a history display or a gift for someone interested in the airborne landings.

For the story, read why paratroopers carried a cricket. You can hear a recording of the mechanism and follow veteran Tom Blakey’s explanation of the signal.

Choosing an aviator hat

Both aviator hats use faux leather and faux-fur trim. Choose between them by fit and whether you want goggles included.

Measure around your head just above the eyebrows and ears. The goggles supplied with the set are a style accessory, not certified protective eyewear.

The M1936-inspired canvas bag

The canvas crossbody bag has 16 oz cotton canvas, leather trim and an adjustable shoulder strap. Carry it across the body, over a shoulder or by the top handle.

Its exterior measures approximately 29 × 28 × 14 cm. If you want it for a particular device or rigid case, compare the full measurements and allow for less usable room inside.

More gifts and reading

The military-inspired gift collection also includes an American flag eagle necklace in stainless steel, with a 22-inch chain and a 2-inch extension.
